This is spot on. I remember how alone I felt after my son was diagnosed last year at 2. That’s when I started writing and sharing our story. It helps so much to find a community of others who understand. Thank you for sharing all of your wisdom ❤️

Meredith thanks so much for writing. I saw some of your posts and your boys are adorable. I'm just so glad I wrote this post, because we're out of town and part of me was like, "Oh, nobody will notice if I skip a week." But at 10 pm this splashed out onto the page. I'll never stop shouting about the importance of community!

Kate, just want to say how much I appreciate your work and resonate with this essay. My kiddo is 3.5 years old and my partner and I are just in the process of recognizing and getting support for him. It's brought up a lot of grief in the recognition of how lonely our parenting experience has felt for a long while, but also feel affirmed by connecting and reading stories from other parents with similar kiddos.

Thank you Adriana, especially with all you are holding right now, for writing this. I was just wondering if anyone had read it 😂.

Ocean was diagnosed with autism at about 3.5, and it was a time of such worry and stress.

There was conflict with my partner, because he didn’t see what I saw. There was confusion about what specialist we needed. One developmental pediatrician just told us, “Your son is complicated,” which wasn’t super helpful. There were friends who backed away, but also friends who stepped up.

And there were the meltdowns. Sending you massive hugs 🤗 and unconditional love. We’re here for you.
