1 Thing I’m NOT Giving Up This Year
The squirrels are loose! Good thing we're getting back to some semblance of structure...
It’s been good to take time off.
We had a pretty good balance between outings and down time. Of course there was too much screen time, and we never got over to Rockefeller Center to see the big tree, but the one I’m sitting right next to smells intoxicating, so I’m okay with it.
I've had a little time to think on those long drives to visit family.
I’ve thought about some things I want to give up this year, but I’ve also thought about all the things I don’t want to give up in 2024.
Structure is one of them, and I can’t believe I’m hearing myself say that. But during the New Year’s Day yoga & journaling workshop (HERE'S THE REPLAY), my friend Renae said something that really struck me:
“We need structure for freedom.”
I love that. It's so true...
My neurodivergent brain was really been spinning out last week from a lack of structure!
My mind and body crave it, even as something to rebel against.
I think about the constraints of a certain size or shape of paintbrush, viscosity of the paint, texture of the paper, and how the medium creates the limitation to push against, which actually enhances my creativity rather than limiting it.
Structure creates freedom.
Having a schedule helps me stay on track with my self-care, so that’s final: I’m NOT GIVING UP STRUCTURE …or croissants. 😁
I am thinking about changing up my posting schedule for a few months while trying to focus my brain on some other projects. Maybe every other week? Not sure I’ll be able to stay away from you, but I must get certain things off the ground. Like my yoga membership for HSP, which is my favorite thing I’ve created, next to Ocean and my book, both of which also need some love.
If you're like me and need structure for your self-care, The Compassion Club was made for you and it's open for new members now through Friday. Get a 7 day trial.
So… what’s something you’re not giving up in 2024?
I’d love to hear.
The Compassion Club IS NOW OPEN for new members to join. Members value the personal connection, accountability, support, and acceptance they find inside.
If you take care of everyone except yourself, and you're ready to change that pattern, I’d like you to join me in The Compassion Club.
